Morning Minyan & Siyyum Tractate Peah: Ta’anit Behorot (Fast of the First Born) – 7:00 AM
Traditionally, firstborn children fast on erev Pesah, but morning Torah study exempts them from that fast. Whether or not you are a firstborn, please join us for Torah study at morning minyan on Wednesday, April 1, followed by breakfast!
In this siyyum (celebration of the completion of study), we will join Student Rabbi Maria Pulzetti as she completes her study of tractate Peah, which addresses the mitzvot of reserving portions of one’s agricultural crops for the poor. Maria will share some of the legal and ethical principles in the mishnah about obligations to the poor, and we’ll consider how these might relate to obligations to the poor in our own time.
All materials will be provided in Hebrew and English. Breakfast, with hametz!, will be served after we study.
If you need to study on your own schedule, please click HERE to access the source sheet!
