5787 Religious School Calendar

 

CALENDAR OVERVIEW

  • Kindergarten & 1st Grade: Sundays(or Saturdays*) 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM at GJC.
  • 2nd Grade – 6th Grade:
    • Sundays(or Saturdays*) 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM at GJC .
    • Wednesdays, between 4:00 – 6:30 PM, up to 30-minute VIRTUAL Hebrew in small groups (exact time of lesson will be determined by the class teacher).
    • 6thgrade ONLY: Mechinah Family Program (formerly “BBMM”) on select Sunday mornings (with parents) from 11 AM –12:30 PM and on Shabbat on select Saturdays (kids only) from 10 AM – 12:15 PM at GJC.
  • 7th Grade:
    • Sundays(or Saturdays*) 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM at GJC.
    • Tuesdays, 6:45 PM – 8:30 PM at GJC (Teen Tuesday).
  • 8th & 9th Grades Teen Tuesday: Tuesdays, 6:45 PM – 8:30 PM at GJC (Teen Tuesday).
  • 10th Grade Confirmation: Tuesdays, approximately 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM. Sometimes at GJC and sometimes at offsite locations, TBD

SHABBAT SCHOOL in the WINTER

In January & February, ALL Religious School students will come to GJC on Shabbat instead of on Sunday, in order to experience Shabbat in community and be together in new and special ways.  (No Shabbat School on President’s Day Weekend, Feb 13, 2027.)

FAMILY SHABBAT SERVICES

*NEW* Family Friday Night Services & Potluck: 

Families with kids in a particular grade are specially invited to attend a fun Friday night Shabbat service and stay afterward for a pot luck dinner and games.

  • Gan/Alef (K/1st grade) – Friday, October 23, 2026 
  • Bet/Gimel (2nd/3rd grades) – Friday, November 20, 2026
  • Dalet (4th grade) – Friday, January 22, 2027
  • Hei (5th grade) – Friday, February 26, 2027
  • Vav/Mechinah (6th grade) – Friday, May 21, 2027
  • Zayin (7th grade) – Friday, March 19, 2027 

Family Shabbat Morning

GJC families are invited to celebrate Shabbat Morning at GJC at a service designed especially for you! Some RS students will have roles in the service. Save these dates:

  • January 9, 2027 (2nd  & 3rd Grade Siddur Ceremony)
  • January 30, 2027  (4th Grade Shema Ceremony)
  • April 17, 2027 (5th Grade Reads Haftarah)
  • May 22, 2027 (6th Grade Reads Torah)

Please also save the date for two special shabbat celebrations of our teens:

  • May 1, 2027 (High School Senior)
  • June 5, 2027 (Confirmation)
