High Holiday services and programs will be in-person indoors, with hybrid online access available at certain events (please see specific schedules). E-tickets will be sent to GJC members and those who have purchased guest tickets via email the week before Rosh ha-Shanah. If you do not receive your e-tickets and links by Tuesday, September 8 please contact Caroline Hicks at administrative@germantownjewishcentre.org. Emails and voicemails will be answered up to 2:00 PM on Friday, September 11.
Adult Education Elul Learning
Elul, the month before Rosh HaShanah, is an auspicious time for introspection, Torah study, and exploration of the themes of Yamim Nora’im, the Days of Awe. Please join Koleinu Beit Midrash for upcoming workshops to open ourselves to the possibilities of transformation in this season. The workshops will focus on tefillah (prayer), tzedakah (justice), and teshuvah (return). Each of these offerings is free of charge.

- Attending Services: Diversity is the hallmark of our Jewish lives at GJC, and we will, as usual, be offering multiple options for celebrating the High Holidays. We encourage you to attend services either in person or remotely, according to your comfort and preference, and we look forward eagerly to being together and greeting the New Year as a community. - The Charry Service
HIGH HOLIDAY FAMILY & YOUTH SERVICES, CHILDCARE, PREK-CARE & CAMP YOM TOV
High Holiday Childcare & Camp Yom Tov!
Childcare is available for children ages 6 months-3 years and PreK Care is available for children ages 4-5. Both childcare and PreK Care are run by our Early Childhood Program teachers and teen assistants. Camp Yom Tov provides supervised youth activities for children in 1st-7th grade and is run by our teen madrichim (counselors). Registration and immunization records are necessary for both childcare and Camp Yom Tov; no walk-ins will be allowed on the day of. Registration coming soon!
All children signed up for childcare and Camp Yom Tov will be provided lunch!
Germantown Jewish Centre would like to thank the Betsy and Hershel Richman High Holiday Children’s Services Endowment Fund for generously supporting our High Holiday children’s services.
- Each of the following services takes place at 11:00 AM on Rosh ha-Shanah Day 1, Rosh ha-Shanah Day 2, and Yom Kippur:
- Ginat Hag: for children age 0-5 and their grown-ups
- Tekiyah: a service for 1st-3rd graders
- T’ruah: a service for 4th-6th graders
- Teen Experience
- On Kol Nidrei, the following service takes place at 6:45 PM:
- Family Kol Nidrei Service for all ages
- On Yom Kippur evening, the following service takes place at 6:30 PM:
- Kids’ Ne’ilah – For children in 2nd grade and up. Stories, mindfulness, and singing at the end of Yom Kippur. We will conclude by joining the larger community in the Charry Sanctuary for shofar and Havdalah.
- REGISTRATION IS NOT REQUIRED FOR ANY CHILDREN’S SERVICE. Please come as you are!
