Program at 6:00 PM, Dinner/Discussion/Schmoozing at 7:00 PM
Program: In this special presentation, Curator of Photography at the Eretz Israel museum in Tel Aviv, Guy Raz, will discuss the “Zionist Gaze” in Israeli photography. We’ll start with the first Jewish photographer, Rabbi Yeshayahu Raphaelovitz (1891), all the way through an image from July 10, 2023– with an eye toward the changes resulting from the Declaration Ceremony of 1948. The works of several photographers will be explored, including Avraham Soskin, Zoltan Kluger, Robert Capa, David Rubinger, and more!
Guy Raz (b. 1965) is a photographer, researcher, and curator of photography. He holds a MA from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Active in the medium since 1993, Guy is currently the Curator of Photography at MUZA – the Eretz Israel Museum, in Tel Aviv.
