In our Shalvah time of study, chanting, and meditation this week, we focused on chanting four Hebrew words that represent different kinds of love, whether between people or between humans and the divine. Sometimes love is mutual, strengthened by the presence and actions of the beloved. Sometimes love is a feeling of compassion for another’s struggles and frailties. Other times love is an unbounded outpouring of care for humanity. And yet other times love is a feeling of wholeness and peace that surrounds and soothes us. May we feel all of these different types of love flowing into us and through us, giving us the strength we need.
