Finding comfort

--

This has been such a shattering week, as those murdered in Pittsburgh have been buried and as we have all struggled to come to grips with this horrific event and its meaning.  I wanted to offer two attempts I have been part of this week to try to address what is in our hearts.
“Tending the Tree of Life”  In this WHYY radio program, I, along with the Reverend Mark Tyler of Mother Bethel AME Church and Chad Dion Lassiter, executive director of the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, offer our thoughts about where we are and where we are going.
“Ask the Rabbi”  In this week’s episode, we address a very painful but important question:  Why would God allow Jews to be murdered in a house of worship?”
May this Shabbat provide us with the embrace of community, the soothing comfort of song, and a measure of peace for our hearts and for the world.
