No matter where we find ourselves physically, the holiday of Shavuot connects us to each other and to our ancestors as we commemorate and relive revelation of Torah. This year, we will have an opportunity to gather together safely in person, outside and masked, as well as gather virtually for GJC’s annual Tikkun Leyl Shavuot (traditionally an all-night Torah study). Keep reading below for all the details.
SUNDAY, MAY 16
3:00-5:30 PM (30 min time slots)
Shavuot Family Scavenger Hunt
Calling all Israelite families (with kids aged 5-12) to join our SHAVU’OT SCAVENGER HUNT! Like the Hebrews making their way towards Mt. Sinai, you will travel with your clan around the GJC grounds, “doing and listening” to Torah along the way. At each stop, you will experience one of the 10 Commandments, and when you’re through, you will get a dairy treat to remind you of the sweetness of Torah. RSVP is required! Please choose a time slot at 3, 4, or 5 PM by FRIDAY, MAY 14th (email Director of Youth & Families Abigail Weinberg for the registration link. Get your friends to sign up with you! (We have space for 40 people per shift.) Please make sure everyone who comes wears a mask and stays 6 feet away from others not in your “pod.” The event is weather-permitting (it will be canceled if there is rain).
PLEASE NOTE: If you would like to attend the 6:00 PM Pirkei Avot Study and/or 7:00 PM Ma’ariv service, please email Kate Lawn for the registration link. Email Kate for the Zoom links to access all of Tikkun Leyl Shavuot and Shavuot services.
