Join us to hear from Adi Keissar, an Israeli poet of Yemenite descent. She will discuss her experience growing up in Israel as a Mizrahi Jew (Jews from Middle Eastern ancestry), using poetry to bridge divides, and how personal identity impacts culture in Israel. Dinner begins at 6:30 PM, is $10/person (sponsorships are available!), and will be catered by Goldie’s and K’far. The program begins at 7:00 PM and is free of charge. Please note that no recording or streaming of the event is allowed.
About Adi Keissar:
Adi Keissar, an Israeli poet of Yemenite descent, is the founder of the popular Ars Poetica, a project which initiated a new wave of Mizrahi poetry for the masses in the form of readings combined with Middle Eastern music and dancing. The author of four books of poetry, Keissar is the recipient of literary prizes from the Israeli Writers Association, the Ministry of Culture, the Bernstein Foundation and Saloona magazine. Keissar is also an artistic director, journalist, and a lecturer based in Tel Aviv. Born in Jerusalem, she holds a B.A. in film and television from Hadassah Academic College, as well as an Open University B.A., and an M.A. in screenwriting from Tel Aviv University.
