Saturday, March 9 at 7:30 PM
(in-person at GJC and on Zoom – separate registrations below)
Join us for a powerful opportunity to hear firsthand experiences from Israel on and since the October 7 massacre. Our speakers are active members of Greater Philadelphia’s Partnership2Gether (P2G) communities of Netivot and Sdot Negev, which border Gaza.
Meet our speakers:
Gal Horev, 53, is married to Yonit and is a father of five children, living in Kfar Maimon in the Sdot Negev Region. Horev works as a Construction, Environmental, Health & Safety manager for Intel in Kiryat Gat. He was an infantry battalion commander and served in both army and secret service as a lieutenant colonel. Horev recently finished 100 days of reserve duty service in Gaza, where he has been a brigade home front commander since 2015. An ultra trail runner, Horev prioritizes the journey over the destination.
Esther Marcus is the manager of the Sdot Negev Resilience Center clinic. She is a trauma therapist and the author of a children’s book “Color Red,” a therapeutic book that helps children living on the border with Gaza cope with rocket attacks. Mother of 4 and grandmother of 3, Marcus is a survivor of the October 7 massacre. Marcus lives in Kibbutz Alumim, less than two miles from the Gaza border.
GJC extends thanks and gratitude to the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia for providing the opportunity to host this program, to the Stern/Gafni Endowment for Israel Engagement for their generous support, and to the Wolfe Family Foundation for their support in all GJC programming.
