Ancient Prayers – New Songs

Ancient Prayers – New Songs

7:00 – 8:30 PM on Tuesdays, January 4, 11, and 18 (Zoom)

Ancient Jewish prayer-songs and poetry – such as the Psalms – are often rollercoaster-like expressions of the human soul that vary as widely in their thematic consistency as they do in their musical meters. This class will explore how we can draw out coherent ideas from the Psalms and other ancient texts, and fit them into contemporary musical expressions and song structures. This class is part of the Open Beit Midrash series and will meet on Zoom from 7:00-8:30 PM on Tuesdays, January 4, 11, and 18.
