Taught by our wonderful, experienced dance teacher, Grant Shulman, GJC's Israeli dance group welcomes dancers of all ages and levels. We begin each session with 45 minutes of beginner dances, followed by instruction, review, open dancing, and requests with increasing levels of difficulty. Prayer is for every day, and GJC supports a weekday minyan service, including Torah reading when appropriate, on Sunday, Monday, and Thursday mornings throughout the year in the Magil Chapel. This weekly one-hour service focuses on chanting, meditation, and movement, with different leaders giving the service a different emphasis each week.
Each year, GJC members donate more than 500 lbs of food to Philabundance through our Kol Nidrei Food Drive. Bring a bag or two of food by to the Philabundance truck on your way to Kol Nidrei services. All items should be unopened, canned, boxed, or bagged; please no glass jars or open containers. The
Babysitting and supervised play for toddlers and kids up to 1st grade. GJC’s childcare on the High Holidays is provided by teachers in our ECP program and assisted by our teen babysitters.
This member-led traditional egalitarian minyan puts an emphasis on a complete traditional prayer service. During the High Holidays, the minyan meets in the Marcus Auditorium, and all roles in the service are coordinated and filled by members.
This member-led Reconstructionist minyan puts an emphasis on singing, with a full P'sukei d'Zimra (preliminary service), and interactive discussion during the d'var Torah.
