08/22/2021 @ 08/22/2021 - 08/22/2021 UTC-4
Event Navigation

Sunday, August 22 (7:30 – 8:30 PM)
What do the laws of Sukkah construction teach us about cultivating resilience, welcoming joy and revealing what really matters in our lives? We’ll begin by investigating the etymology of the word “sukkah” itself (and why it’s an ironic name), and then learn some of the classic laws of the sukkah in Leviticus, Mishnah Sukkah and in Maimonides’ Mishneh Torah. Finally we’ll explore why the sukkah’s major design flaw may be a spiritual refinement.
Taught by Phreddy Nosanwisch
Phreddy Nosanwisch (he/him) earned a B.A. in Classical Civilizations from Florida State University and an M.A. in Jewish Education from the William Davidson School at JTS. He currently lives in Southeastern Michigan where he will begin teaching at Hillel Day School in the fall.
