OPEN SESAME: THE SOOM TAHINI STORY
with Amy Zitelman, CEO of SOOM Foods

Meet Amy Zitelman, the CEO of SOOM Foods, and hear how she and her sisters created their successful importing business in 2012 that offers outstanding Tahini products in US markets. Based in Philadelphia, SOOM sources sesame seeds in Ethiopia and manufactures its products in Israel for distribution. The company got a big early boost when Michael Solomonov, chef-owner of Zahav Restaurant, started to use SOOM tahini to make his delicious hummus.  Amy will speak about the challenges of building their brand, getting their product on grocery store shelves, and running a company during the COVID pandemic. Amy also will spotlight some tahini-based recipes from her new cookbook, The Tahini Table, and suggest some dishes to enliven your Thanksgiving table.
