GJC’s MLK Day of Service
Join fellow GJC and community members as we observe MLK Day with service and political action. Our annual MLK Day of Service projects will take place on Monday morning, and as in years past, we will be volunteering in the community with organizations in NW Philadelphia. Join thousands of people from across the Philadelphia region who choose to make Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s birthday a day on rather than a day off! Last year nearly 70 members of GJC joined hundreds of volunteers for our morning of service at Henry Elementary school & Awbury Arboretum – we hope that your family will join us on Monday at Awbury Arboretumn again, or EW Rhodes Middle School, or Mt. Airy Playground for this year’s projects!

HAVE PLANS ON MONDAY, BUT LOOKING TO VOLUNTEER ON SUNDAY?
Men’s Club Day at JRA: Join Men’s Club as volunteers of all ages and backgrounds meet as a community at JRA’s northeast Philadelphia warehouse (10980 Dutton Road, adjacent to the NE Airport). Volunteers pack over 3000 boxes with fresh produce and non-perishable food, and deliver food and a smile into the homes of those in need. All of these food packing events are important to those in need. Please join the GJC Mens Club in their monthly support of this effort. Participants will meet at the JRA warehouse at 8:30 AM, and help in the setup and packing of boxes and make deliveries. Volunteers may help in all or part of these activities. All work will be completed by 1:00PM. For more information, please contact Dick Menin or Jim Meyer.
