HA-MAKOM: SACRED SPACE IN JUDAISM

In this Beit Midrash series we will explore the idea of sacred space in Jewish thought, from the Mishkan (Tabernacle) in the wilderness to the Temple in Jerusalem to Israel and the modern synagogue. How do spaces contain or channel the divine?  How do they change the people in them and/or provide a reference point for those outside them?  And how might Jewish ideas of space guide us as we move through the spaces in our lives?  No prior knowledge is assumed, and all texts will be studied in English.  Beit Midrash for adults will take place during Shabbat mornings in January and February from 9:30-10:00 am. Topics are chosen by the community. Please feel free to enjoy coffee and cocoa on the Religious School landing before Beit Midrash study!
