(in-person at GJC and on Zoom)
Josh Peskin recently returned from a volunteer mission to Israel with Sheba Medical Center, where his group volunteered at the hospital, witnessed the destruction at Kfar Azza, and talked with families of hostages and Israelis wounded in the Hamas attacks who are in rehab at Sheba Medical Center in Ramat Gan. Additionally, his group received updates from counter-terrorism and military officials as well as a personal assessment of the overall situation by Israeli author and journalist Yossi Klein Halevi. Josh would like to relay some thoughts from his trip and facilitate a conversation around the current situation.
Josh, better known as Nina Peskin’s husband, helps nonprofits develop strategy, build financial resources and strategic communications functions. In addition to his U.S.-based clients, he currently works with several Israeli organizations, including Israel’s largest hospital, Sheba Medical Center, which was the impetus for his recent trip. He earned a Ph.D. from Stanford University and currently teaches at Drexel University. In his spare time, Josh has been lucky enough to find the quiet and rejuvenating world of fine woodworking. Josh, Nina, Maya, and their dogs Gus and Charlie live a handful of blocks from GJC in Mt. Airy.
GJC extends thanks and gratitude to the Stern /Gafni Endowment for Israel Engagement for their generous support, and to the Wolfe Family Foundation for their support in all GJC programming.
