Shabbat Study
Event Navigation
Rebellion isn’t failure. As we raise our children (either our own or in community), we are bound to encounter the “rebellious child,” the young person who resists and defies our expectations and limitations. We can be left feeling frustrated, angry, disappointed with ourselves, and fearful of the conflict that the rebellion may elicit. But, rebellion can also be healthy and even essential to the process of building character, close relationships, and community. As people raising children (either in our own homes or in the broader community), we will gather to explore the rebellious child as presented in Jewish tradition, taking a look at specific characters, suggestions for handling rebellion, and frameworks for moving from a place of tension to one of peace. Learning will take place on Saturday mornings (January 4-February 22) from 9:30-10am, prior to Shabbat services and will be facilitated by Rabbi Zeff and Rabbi Richman.
