Deep Connections. Meaningful Memories. Endless Possibilities. What will GJC be for you?
We invite you to create a space for yourself here at GJC. You are opening the door to a unique community, full of some of the most compassionate, creative, and intelligent people you will ever meet. Ruah is present in everyday interactions with our members, clergy, and staff, in our services and programs, and in the laughter of ECP and Religious School children in our hallways. We welcome you with open arms and open hearts, and look forward to getting to know you.
Why “community of communities?”
How else would you describe a community as diverse as GJC? We are a pluralistic, egalitarian synagogue affiliated with the Conservative movement yet we have three different prayer services you can choose from. We have a diverse demographic of members regarding age, race, ethnicity, gender identity, socioeconomic status, physical abilities, and sexual orientation, all working to support and care for each other. GJC is a place that bridges divides and provides opportunities to connect meaningfully with others while on your spiritual journey. We embrace difference and welcome all Jews to come as they are and want to be.
Financial Commitment to the Community
Germantown Jewish Centre belongs to all of us. Annual financial commitments to this community are our main source of revenue. Your commitment covers GJC’s operating costs, sustaining our clergy, staff, facilities, adult and youth education, programs, ritual services, festival celebrations, and so much more. We are grateful that so many GJC members can provide financial support at or above our standard dues level, but we know that dues are not one-size-fits-all. One of our core values is that finances are never a barrier to membership, so our approach to dues begins with a conversation.
If you are still deciding whether GJC is the right place for you, we suggest that you:
- Please email Kate Lawn, Program & Membership Director, at community@germantownjewishcentre.org to schedule a time to talk about GJC.
