As the news of violence and bloodshed from Israel and Gaza continues, The Abraham Initiatives continues to lay the groundwork for a shared future for all Israeli citizens, Jewish and Palestinian, as it has since its inception in 1989.
This gathering will provide us with a unique opportunity to learn from and then discuss the on-the-ground reality in Israel with two activists/experts in the field:
- Shahira Shalaby, co-CEO of The Abraham Initiatives, is a former Deputy Mayor of Haifa, a former city councilor, and, among her other innovative projects, was a founder of Israel’s Palestinian feminist movement, working to improve the status of Arab women.
- Amnon Be’eri-Sulitzeanu, The Abraham Initiatives co-CEO for nearly twenty years, has previously served as Marketing and Communications Director of the Jerusalem Foundation and as a Spokesman and Adviser to the Ministry of Immigrant Absorption.
The results of a recent poll of Palestinian citizens shows surprising and hopeful signs for Israeli political parties open to partnership. Amnon and Shahira will help us understand what could come next by imagining a different shared future during this time of deep uncertainty.
