This talk will introduce a free online course entitled “The Jewish Bible: Its History as a Physical Artifact” taught by David Stern and produced by Harvard University’s online educational platform. The talk will explain what the course is about and how to register for it, and will also include a short presentation that will give the audience a taste of this truly different and unusual way of approaching the Bible and understanding its place within the Jewish historical, cultural, and religious experience.

David Stern
David Stern is Harry Starr Professor of Classical and Modern Hebrew and Jewish Literature and Professor of Comparative Literature at Harvard University. Before going to Harvard ten years ago, Stern taught at Penn for many years. He is the author of fourteen books, including The Jewish Bible: A Material History (2017). Stern and his wife Kathryn Hellerstein have been active members of Minyan Masorti at GJC for more than thirty years.
