Haftarah Trope

--
December 7, 14, 21, & 28, January 4, 11, & 25 at 7:00 PM on Zoom (will NOT meet on MLK day)

Trope is much more than a beautiful mnemonic device. Trope is a system of musical punctuation that the rabbis used to clarify the grammatical structure of the biblical text, to emphasize particular words and phrases, and more. Our first session (1 hr) will introduce the trope system. In sessions 2-4 (45 min each) students will become familiar with the most important trope phrases and their functions. In sessions 5-7 (20 min each) students will practice singing their chosen haftarah one-on-one with the instructor. A recording and musical notation of haftarah trope will be provided.
