Lynnda Targan was an accomplished professional and happily married mother of two when she found herself missing the nurturing enclave of her grandparents’ close-knit, Orthodox Jewish community. At fifty, she rediscovered the beauty and resonance of Jewish history, its teachings, and its powerful code for living in the modern world. Her book, Funny You Don’t Look Like a Rabbi: A Memoir of Unorthodox Transformation, chronicles how her ever-deepening connection to Judaism and Israel blossomed into an urgent calling and her midlife transformation to an ordained rabbi, religious scholar, and valued teacher.
