There are great films about American football that give audiences a front row seat at the 50 yard line, and terrific sight lines during each play. Oliver Stone’s “Any Given Sunday” goes somewhat further by giving the audience the virtual experience of actually experiencing the game, while tackling a number of social issues connected with the game that feel eerily current. A pro-bowl cast starring Jamie Foxx, Al Pacino, and Carmen Diaz combine to make Any Given Sunday the Super Bowl of films about the sport.
