Jewish Connections: Myer P. and Myra B. Jacobs Adult Education Institute
What makes Germantown Jewish Centre’s adult education offerings different from all the rest? Because at GJC, it’s all about Jewish Connections. Whether you are looking for one-of-a-kind workshops to kindle your curiosity or are interested in diving deeper into Jewish tradition, history, philosophy and more, there is something for you! Within these pages, we are proud to announce a wide range of workshops, courses, and immersive experiences that present opportunities for engagement with the wellspring of Jewish text, creative expression, history and culture in a way that is relevant to our lives in the 21st century. This year, may we grow both as individuals and as a community through our learning, through our journeys and through our connection to one another.
GJC has a GREAT lineup of opportunities to engage, interact, explore, and discover this year!
- Self-Care & Healing Workshop Series featuring nature walks, women's drumming circles, meditation, clay therapy, career workshops, and even a movement class for those 55+
- Center City Lunch & Learn monthly class on speech ethics in Jewish law
- Jewish History & Philosophy classes including sanctuary cities and spaces, the Balfour Declaration, and Jewish theology
- Jewish Arts & Culture exploring President Rubin Rivlin's description of Israel's four tribes, the Passover Haggadah through the eyes of the Hasidic masters, and a multi-generational cooking class
- Jewish Knowledge & Ritual class marking passages of our adult lives

These learning groups form organically allowing congregants to study a topic of their choice either with a teacher who has particular expertise or just with each other. Example in recent years include a Zohar study group and a Talmud study group. We encourage people who are interested in a specific topic to speak with our Program Director and Rabbi to see if a havurah can be created to address the desired subject.
The Rabbinical Assembly of Greater Philadelphia invites you to attend a weekly study of Torah in various locations around the city. A local Rabbi leads the discussion, usually an exploration of the parashat hashavua, while you eat your dairy lunch. Beverages are provided. Each session is self-contained, so feel free to join at any time. For more information about any of the locations, contact Rabbi Gary Charlestein, 610-239-6003.
